Spokane Transit Authority, more commonly Spokane Transit or STA, is the public transit authority serving Spokane, Washington and its surrounding areas.
STA was founded in 1980 as a municipal corporation but has roots to private transit operators extending back to 1888. Its serves a population of approximately 409,000 across 248 square miles of the Spokane County Public Transportation Benefit Area (PTBA), which includes the cities of Spokane, Spokane Valley, Cheney, Liberty Lake, Airway Heights, Medical Lake, the Millwood, and unincorporated areas in and around those cities.
