Miles, Washington.

Miles is an unincorporated community in Lincoln County, Washington. It is home to historic Fort Spokane.

History[]

The community was named after Nelson A. Miles, an early settler to the area. A post office called Miles was opened in 1881 until it closed in 1962.

Geography[]

The community sits along the northern end of State Route 25. Fort Spokane is directly west of the town while to the north is the Columbia River and Stevens County. To the east is Lincoln County as is the south. To the southwest is Deer Meadows and Seven Bays. Miles is 24 miles from Davenport and nearly 60 miles from Spokane. The Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area encompasses Fort Spokane.

The town sits at an elevation of 1,144 feet above sea level.
