Fishtrap is an ghost town in Lincoln County, Washington. The town is now extinct with not many traces of it's existence. The former town straddled the county line of Lincoln and Spokane County's.

Fishtrap Lake Resort is within the immediate area of Fishtrap.

History[]

A post office called Fishtrap was established in 1906, and remained in operation until 1936. The community took its name from Fishtrap Lake, which was named by local natives who often caught fish there.

Geography[]

Northeast of Fishtrap is Tyler and Cheney. Mason is directly east. Amber is to the southeast while Croskey and Rodna are to the south. Sprague is southwest by 6 miles. Edwall is northwest.

Fishtrap Lake[]

Fishtrap Lake is a popular rainbow trout lake that often has the highest average catch rate measured in the region on opening day. Both a resort launch and public access launch are available. The season runs from the last Saturday in April to September 30.
